- Chronicle: Latino arrested for loitering at his workplace.
- The young man was in his vehicle when the authorities caught him.
- The police were about to break the glass and take him out by force.
A young Hispanic man from Georgia has just had a very bad experience after he was arrested by a couple of cops right in the parking lot of his workplace. Looking at the footage from the officers’ body cams, it can be clearly seen that Gilbert Alexander Rodríguez was refusing to get out of the car.
This 20-year-old young man’s problems began when the company he works for closed for the night. In theory, all employees should leave the premises and not linger around. Loitering is considered a crime in several places in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
He was approached by a policeman

After his workplace closed, Gilbert remained parked in front checking his phone, texting or talking — nobody really knows — but what is a fact is that he remained there for a long time, until suddenly a patrol car from Norcross entered the mall.
It was not just any police officer, but rather, the lieutenant himself, named Wolfe. He’s a gentleman whom I have known personally for many years and who seems to me to be very fair and merciful compared to other officers, which has taken him far in his police career. What are you doing here at this hour?

Wolfe thought it strange that there was a car still there at that hour, when all the businesses in the area were closed, so he decided to investigate. He couldn’t see anything with the naked eye because the windows were tinted, so he had to get closer. It was only then that he noticed that there was someone inside the car.
He knocked on the window and the driver opened it for him, but only a little, he could barely see part of his face. Wolfe asked him to lower it all the way down but Wolfe refused. «What are you doing here at this hour when everything is closed?” asked the lieutenant. Gilbert didn’t answer him, he just ignored him. “You have to know that you are breaking the law”

Wolfe was patient. He explained that the man was committing the infraction of loitering on private property, a misdemeanor in Georgia known which carries a fine of around $500 or a couple of days in jail as punishment.
However, the lieutenant told him: «Give me your driver’s license. I want to see who you are and if everything is fine, you can go home.» The man’s response was a resounding ‘no’. He refused to identify himself, which made things more complicated. «Come on, everything will be alright. I’ll let you go if you don’t owe anything to justice. Be calm.» The officer received another negative response. Filed Under: Chronicle Arrested latino work
Wolfe called for backup and the young man was almost forced out of his vehicle

Faced with so much resistance, Lieutenant Wolfe tried to open the car door for him, but it was locked, so he had to call for backup. A minute later the first patrol car appeared. The new officer immediately got out with his baton in hand and showed his intention to break the window. Given such a scene, Gilbert gave in and unlocked his vehicle. They immediately got him out and he was handcuffed. He was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct and loitering.
He was released the next day after paying bail of more than $700 and will soon have to appear in court to answer for the crimes he is accused of. And all because of his bad attitude. If he had behaved politely with Wolfe, surely he wouldn’t have been fined. But hey, he asked for it. Of course, in the photo that was taken of him in prison he appears smiling, as if it were his latest profile photo. Immature youngsters after all. Thanks for reading my story today.
